UP on the Roof Reservations

Fifteen years after the indie movie’s premiere, we’re hosting a Sideways themed wine dinner celebrating Pinot Noir and Merlot.  The film about fear and loathing in Santa Barbara wine country became a box office hit, but the impact it had on the wine industry might actually be its biggest legacy. In the wake of the cult classic, Pinot Noir became the darling of American wine drinkers and California Merlot quickly fell out of favor.  But is one varietal really better than the other? You get to be the judge.

As part of this fun event, we’ll be doing a blind comparison of a Pinot Noir and a Merlot with each course and then guests get to vote on which pairing is supreme. Are you pinot-phile or are you mad for merlot? Do your taste buds really even have a universal preference? This Sideways dinner may just turn your opinion of certain wines upside down.
