New year, new restaurant! We’re thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of UP on the Roof in Charlottesville, Virginia. As many of you already know, we acquired the food and beverage outlets at The Doyle Hotel in Charlottesville in July 2024, including a spectacular rooftop restaurant and bar currently operating as Rooftop Charlottesville. This winter we’re going to be giving the space an UPgrade and will celebrate with a grand re-opening and official rebrand to UP on the Roof just in time to sip into spring!
Perched above The Doyle Hotel (formerly Quirk) in the Starr Hill neighborhood – just blocks from the Downtown Mall, The Corner and the University of Virginia Grounds – UP on the Roof strives to blur the line between indoors and outdoors. The wrap-around outdoor terrace overlooks downtown Charlottesville and boasts panoramic views of Virginia Wine Country and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Get ready to enjoy a repertoire of signature bottled cocktails and handcrafted libations. Complimenting the fun rooftop vibe and innovative beverage program, the menu will focus on UPscale bar food that highlights locally sourced, seasonal ingredients in a lively atmosphere that includes limited indoor dining as well as a year-round, heated outdoor terrace with stunning panoramic views and cozy firepits.
And in the meantime, make plans to join us at Rooftop Charlottesville. We are open for limited dinner and drinks service during construction, but please pardon our progress as we cook up something new and exciting behind the scenes.

Frequently asked questions
Please note that we are only able to accept reservations for heated + covered outdoor dining. Indoor tables, fireplace areas, terrace seating groups and standing room on the rooftop is available on a first-come, first-served basis for all guests.
UP on the Roof reserves the right to limit tables to a single check for payment. A suggested gratuity of 20% will be added to all parties of 6 or more in the dining room. It is company policy that guests have the unrestricted right to determine the final amount of gratuity free from compulsion & negotiation.
Dogs and other pets, with the exception of certified service animals, are not permitted on the rooftop.
UP on the Roof gift certificates are available in denominations from $25 up to $250. Valid for food and beverage purchases at UP on the Roof only; gift certificates may not be used as payment for gratuity, service charges and facility rental fees.
In order to maximize the budgeted dollars we donate to non-profit organizations in the areas we serve, we utilize a matching donation program. Learn more and apply for a donation here.

Here are a few parking options:
- Free, but limited parking in a lot directly at the bottom of the Liberty Hall building
- Free street parking
- Paid parking lot behind the Liberty Hall building.
- Free public parking deck on the other side of the green space (just a short walk)
Head to 33 S. Main St, Alpharetta, GA. Walk to the side door in the alleyway to access the lobby of Liberty Hall and take the elevator to Floor 5.
