Perched above The Doyle Hotel (formerly Quirk) in the Starr Hill neighborhood – just blocks from the Downtown Mall, The Corner and the University of Virginia Grounds – UP on the Roof strives to blur the line between indoors and outdoors. The wrap-around outdoor terrace overlooks downtown Charlottesville and boasts panoramic views of Virginia Wine Country and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Get ready to enjoy a repertoire of signature bottled cocktails and handcrafted libations. Complimenting the fun rooftop vibe and innovative beverage program, the menu will focus on UPscale bar food that highlights locally sourced, seasonal ingredients in a lively atmosphere that includes limited indoor dining as well as an outdoor terrace with stunning panoramic views and cozy firepits.

Frequently asked questions

Outdoor Seating Requests

We’re happy to note seating preferences whenever possible, though specific requests cannot be guaranteed. At locations with heated and covered outdoor terrace seating, these tables are assigned year-round, and indoor or outdoor seating cannot be confirmed in advance. Upon arrival, guests are welcome to let our host team know if they’d prefer to wait for the first available table in their desired area.

Large Group Policy / Gratuity

UP on the Roof reserves the right to limit tables to a single check for payment. A suggested gratuity of 20% will be added to all parties of 6 or more in the dining room. It is company policy that guests have the unrestricted right to determine the final amount of gratuity free from compulsion & negotiation.

Animal Policy

Well-behaved, leashed dogs under 75 lbs. are permitted on the outdoor terrace adjacent to our bar only. Dogs are required to remain outdoors and in close proximity to their owner for the duration of their visit to the rooftop. If your dog has an accident while on the rooftop, a $50+ clean-up fee may be added to your bill. Management reserves the right to require any dog and their owner to leave the premises if they are disrupting other guests or the flow of service. Gift Certificates

UP on the Roof gift certificates are available in denominations from $25 up to $250. Valid for food and beverage purchases at UP on the Roof only; gift certificates may not be used as payment for gratuity, service charges and facility rental fees.
