Especially during this socially distanced summer, outdoor dining is on the rise. Luckily, that’s just our specialty at UP on the Roof, located atop the Embassy Suites hotel in downtown Greenville, SC.
Our sophisticated small plates are crafted with the freshest locally sourced ingredients available and best savored while gazing out over the surrounding Upstate area. Here are a few of our favorite dishes to enjoy on our rooftop.
From the Farm
Summer produce like tomatoes, watermelon, and berries transform into meals perfect for nibbling on while you take in the views.
Heirloom Tomato Salad:
Sweet, colorful heirloom tomatoes are topped with watermelon salsa, watercress, and aged balsamic vinegar for a dish that’s bursting with flavor. Add chicken or tuna to make it a complete meal.
Grilled Chicken Salad:
Light and refreshing, chicken completes this lettuce-based salad along with goat cheese, pine nuts, and a summery strawberry vinaigrette.
Shishito Peppers:
Blistered in a skillet until lightly charred, these mild East Asian peppers are irresistible when dipped in our tangy yakisoba sauce. Just know that roughly one out of every twelve peppers is likely to give you a surprise kick!
From the Sea
Seafood is the star of the show in several dishes that somehow taste even better al fresco.
SC Wreckfish:
Hailing from the waters about 100 miles off the coast of Charleston, this mild, flaky fish is accompanied by golden rice and grilled peach chutney, which brings a blend of sweet and spicy flavors to the table.
Bayou Crabcake:
These Lowcountry-style crab cakes are lightly battered, fried, served with remoulade sauce, and topped with a gastrique made from the Carolinas’ favorite bubbly cherry beverage: Cheerwine. A sweet-and-sour green tomato and corn relish on the side works as a summery complement to this dish.
Tuna Tataki:
Lightly seared but still rare, slices of tuna are served in a chili-infused dashi broth with fresh baby bok choi.
Sunset Sweets
You didn’t think we’d forget dessert, did you? This season’s menu features fruity indulgences that taste like heaven.
Cucumber + Key Lime Pie:
Classic key lime pie gets a refreshing update with the addition of cucumbers and a gin-infused mint crema.
Limoncello Soufflé:
Made with summery Limoncello liqueur, this airy treat feels like biting into a cloud. Macerated berries on top add a touch of sweetness.
